Indian Standards: Library

 

Bureau of Indian Standards is the National Standards Body of India, engaged in Standardization activity in various fields through its fourteen Division Councils, which includes Management and Systems Division Council (MSDC). Under this Division, Documentation and Information Sectional Committee, MSD 5 is engaged in standardization activity in the field of practices relating to libraries, documentation and information centers. Various areas of standardization cover , indexing and abstracting services, bibliographic formats, conservation and preservation of print and non-print medium, archives, information science, document imaging applications, data processing etc.. Other areas relate to processing and handling of documents, besides coordination with related international committees for standardization i.e. ISO, with a view to disseminate its knowledge and promote its application.
